The alternator is original. Though I have a battery cutoff switch, I have jumped the battery from time to time. I have an unrepaired ac leak, so I don't drive the D a lot when it's unbearably hot. I'll loosen the idle speed motor and see if it looks like it's moving as expected when the car starts. The one I installed a few years ago was working, but not new, which I failed to mention. -Wayne -----Original Message----- From: Martin Gutkowski <martin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: dmcnews <dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wed, Aug 15, 2012 4:39 am Subject: Re: [DML] Re: stalling again- bleh I'd go with David, it's most likely a fault with the CIS system (constant idle speed), it could be the control unit has failed, they can act very wierd. The question that might be worth asking is why it has now failed twice, for example is the alternator regulating properly? It's quite sensitive to things like jump starting too. Early days but based on what you've said it's the most likely thing. It didn't make any difference awhile ago, but as the saying goes, that was then, this is now. -Wayne -----Original Message----- From: jtrealtywebspannet <jtrealty@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: dmcnews <dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tue, Aug 14, 2012 8:55 pm Subject: [DML] Re: stalling again- bleh Try the plug swap and see if it starts up quickly. If it does then you have a problem in the CSV system. David Teitelbaum --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, deloreanernst@... wrote: > > > Vin11174 has been running fine, for the last two years. Now suddenly itwon't "catch" when I crank it, unless I diddle with the gas pedal. Then when it does start, it immediately dies unless I keep diddling. Then when it warms up a bit, it hunts from 500 clear up to 1100, nearlystalling, then racing.
