Actually, the fuel gauge issue I have is the sending unit is no good. This car sat with 5 gallons of gas in it for 25 years, so the sending unit I had was gummed up so bad the float wouldn?t budge. I swapped it out with another that Ken K had lying around the shop, but it never really worked well, never showing above ¼ tank. When I got it the car the morning of the Indianapolis event, the low fuel light came on (I didn?t even know it had a low fuel light ! J ) and the car bucked a bit while making it to the gas station near the hotel. Put 9 gallons in it that day, and the gauge went back up to ¼ tank. I wanted to simply replace the sender unit, but at the time, none of the vendors had one (Do they now?) , so I planned on sending my old one to John for rebuild. (Note: Planned. It?s still in a box in the back of my daily driver waiting to be sent off) Before Wednesday?s parade, I noticed the gauge was below the ¼ mark, so I decided to top her off, again, put in about 9 gallons. During the day, the gauge slowly rose, eventually making it to just over ½ tank. By the end of the day however, I noticed it was slightly below the ½ tank mark, so it?s feasible that the gauge is slowly coming back to life. I still want to replace it however. I will definitely look into the grounding of the inertia switch, but I believe it might actually by disconnected. I have a wire harness dangling from above my left foot that has a homemade jumper installed in lieu of whatever it used to be plugged into. I suspect it might be the inertia switch. On the list. (same list as the sending unit and the water pump belt I?m afraid! That solution also solved my instability of the fuel gauge, the Voltage gauge and some other gorund related issues. It never read above 1/4 of a tank, so I never knew how much gas I had (almost ran out the morning of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway event). Well, I filled it up, and I think the sloshing around during the drive to the parade loosened it up. It now reads 1/2 :-).
