I believe Julie mentioned that DMCMW will be having an open house sometime next year. From what I understand, it is the true type of open house where they don't charge money for their customers to visit. I plan to attend as long as DMCH doesn't blacklist me for my fiberglass binnacle project. DMCMW is only a 15.5 hour drive from my house. -Steve Rice #16510 On Sat, Jun 30, 2012 at 12:01 PM, content22207 <brobertson@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Had I known you were contemplating a conversion I would made sure you test drove my car at DCS'12. > > There are 24 months before DCS'12 -- surely we can meet up somewhere for a test drive before then. > > I've never been to Dave and Julee's house in Illinois.... > > Bill Robertson > #5939 > > --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "vladivdracula" <lordvadus@...> wrote: >> >> Let me say that, first of all, the carb swap was my idea. I wasn't influenced by Bill or anyone else into believing it's a magic cure-all for problems. What happened is that I've owned a DeLorean since 2006. In that 6-year period, I've learned a lot about the cars. The K-Jet system, however, I see only in use on the DeLorean. If I work on a Ford, I'll see the Motocraft carb; which is not dissimilar to the ones used by GM or Chrysler on the vehicles I service for a living. For me, it's only natural to make this swap. EFI doesn't appeal to me because I have no need to learn it and it makes my car immensely difficult to repair on the fly; my main reason for a carb swap. >> >> I do not, functionality-speaking, consider a carb to be a downgrade. While it's true that I've never driven a carbed car before, it's not a concern of performance. What it boils down to is familiarity. I want the system I'm most familiar with to be the one on the car; that happens to be a carb. >> >> There are also many very generous people out there willing to assist me in this swap; to those involved, in addition to parts compensation, drinks are on me.
