There is absolutely no incompatibility between carburetion and a performance engine -- until last year, every single NASCAR race car was carbureted, with restrictor plates to *LIMIT* horsepower. NASCAR converted to fuel injection last year for several reasons totally unrelated to performance, including better ability to use ethanol fuel (yes, even NASCAR burns make believe gasoline now). NASCAR also uses proprietary EFI software to limit speeds on various tracks in lieu of restrictor plates. Cessna still uses carburetors on its airplanes.
