Just sent a message to an owner who needs to single handedly crank his car while watching a timing light flash. Kind of hard to do by yourself unless you make this handy mod: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY2P3EyY95E Works just like starting an old Ford from under the hood (triggering the solenoid manually in lieu of the ignition switch). Ford solenoid itself is mounted to the passenger fender, so you can bypass it altogether and start the car in case of solenoid failure. Ignition has to be on if you want the engine to actually run of course. Ignition also has to be on to diagnose spark.
