Wrong, those pieces are to spread the load of the forward moment generated by the ARB and applied to the frame extension under braking and when you hit a bump. Good thing Lotus know more about engineering than you. The factory recall brackets transfer upward swaybar forces from a flat piece of 16 gauge low carbon steel (more genius Lotus engineering) to one vertical piece of 16 gauge low carbon steel. My brackets accomplish the same thing, albeit to *TWO* vertical pieces of 16 gauge low carbon steel -- and to a 1/8" thick aluminum I beam (the so called "Heath Robinson" modification that actually makes my crumple extension significantly stronger in the vertical plane than a stock vehicle -- another reason my car handles so well). At some point in the future, I may install it (or something similar) and be happy too. My advice still stands to anyone who decides to try it themselves. > > > --- On Mon, 3/12/12, content22207 <brobertson@...> wrote: > > > > I continue to maintain, as I have > > since the brackets (and arms) first went on my car: > <SNIP> > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
