In real world tests of factory new DeLoreans, Road & Track got 19.5 combined city/highway MPG and Car & Driver got 18 combined MPG. Motor Trend got 26.8 actual MPG on a 73 mile closed loop (speed?). Window sticker EPA estimate was 21 combined MPG. If you are getting results similar to those, especially burning gasohol, I wouldn't worry about it.

If in doubt, look at your spark plugs. They will tell you what's going on inside your combustion chambers.
