Dave, You are correct that a much simpler and cheaper computer could be made using a micro. We had this same problem with the 97 DeLorean Time Machine which has a 4 speed TipTronics Automatic overdrive transmission. We initially had one of the very expensive Felpro trans computers to control the trans. It did not work right and months and months of working with Felpro. With the experience we developed designing the 1st generation BMS for the 2015 Electric Lithium Ion battery Delorean, Ryan became very expert at Parallax micros. I designed an interface circuit and he programmed the micro and we built a computer to control the TipTronix for less than $100. The only draw back is that the micro runs rather slow compared to more expensive computers. Can't wait for the $25 mini computer that is supposed to come out soon. This could more easily be done with a stock D trans since it has only 3 speeds instead of 4. Just another someday project, along with the Full Size DeLorean window kits (which are slowing getting closer.)
