I have owned Winged1 for just shy of 23 years and have had it in countless car shows, rallies, parades, and promotional events. I can only recall perhaps a handful of incidents where somebody was disrespectful of the car or abusive towards me. I guess that we grow "them" differently up here in the Pacific Northwest. Granted, I have had a few folks jump in and have a friend snap a quick picture when they think that I am not looking, but there has never been any damage or mischief to speak of. Most of the time people will ask politely if they can sit in the car, and many people ask for permission just to take a picture of it on display. Maybe all of the rain up here washes away the rudeness? Fascinating.
