[DML] Re: automatic transmission?

The pump noise would come from the front of the car, the transmission is behind the driver. The pump noise would only happen when the fuel tank is low. You might also have a problem in the fuel tank with the pick-up hose. it could be partially kinked or leaky and it either can't get enough fuel to the pump or it sucks air. Glad it worked out to be something simple but the lesson here is to have Rob fix your fuel gauge and check out the pick-up hose and baffle in the tank. The "slipping" you felt was the engine bucking when it didn't get enough fuel, not the transmission slipping. You are really lucky you are close to Rob and he could make a "house call"!!!!!!

If that didn't help then raise the car and with the wheels off the ground and the motor running in gear, carefully go under the car looking for the source of the noise. A partially plugged up filter can "starve" the fluid pump causing cavitation making a noise.

I drove it work on Friday, ~25 miles each way. On the way home, and near home, I had to slow down for a car making a turn. There was an odd sort of vibrating sound that seemed to come from the back of the car, and the engine stalled. I restarted, con
