IMHO this is more about comfort and convenience (read laziness) than anything else. All things being equal, when new, the automatics were more expensive than the manuals. Now I am not sure but it is probably the same cost from DMCH so it doesn't matter anymore if it ever really did. Another thing you can glean from this is that people buying the remaned cars from DMCH are not interested in performance so much as appearances. An interesting question would be "How many of the remaned cars had engine upgrades such as the Stage II?"
