Assuming it's original, it's on with two sided tape and you can remove it with a paint chisel. If someone has glued it (or a replacement) in place you can break the glass if you try this. Heat will help - maybe. The new one MUST be installed with two-sided tape made for the purpose. All the vendors carry it. If you use normal mirror glue it you stand a high probability of breaking the glass over time. Don't listen to the auto parts store guy, do not by "rear view mirror adhesive". The pad on the stock mirror is large and aluminum, if you glue it the metal expands at a rate higher than the glass and it will break the glass.
