When I replaced my throw-out bearing- & did a bit of routine maint. to the clutch- I turned the tranny upside down, & let the oil drain out all day. I then added Amsoil Gear Lube to the trans. Same weight as given in the specs- 80/85. Works great. Well, its time to change transmission oil, and I am wondering a few things. First, I can't actually find this oil that he said he used. I have looked over the Redline site, and they make some interesting points about manual transmission oil that is "too slippery" being bad since the synchros won't work so well, etc. I note on my car that in cold weather I indeed have that occasional problem. I am contemplating going to more or less the recommended fluid, or maybe a synthetic like Valvoline 85W90. > > So, 2 questions:1) any other recommendations on manual transmission oil? 2) Regardless, when I change from one formulation to another, do I simply drain and add, or do I need to drain, add, drain again and add, to flush-out the other fluid? > > steve liggett > > > > ------------------------------------ > > To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: > moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx > > For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com > > To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
