True, but I think their lawyers would have realized that if anyone challenged it, their claim would have been overturned.. so, why bother? Considering none of those companies have any power over anyone who was doing business in the DeLorean community, people like Stephen W, Ed B, Rob G, and Don S would have challenged their claim.... AND WON! With all of that said, I think it is irrelevant to my argument that DMC has yet to provide an explanation as to how they came to claim ownership. Your comments here also assume my "Squatters Rights" scenario. I for sure see advantages to having someone within the community control the trademark and it's use, but if we go back to the squatters rights example, would it be fair to grant property ownership to a squatter just because they mow the lawn when no one else was doing it?? --- On Mon, 2/8/10, mike.griese@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mike.griese@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > One point that I don't recall having > been made is that during the time that the DMC logo was > unprotected, anybody could have registered it. > > Anybody. > > Ford, GM, Chrysler, BMW, VW, Seat, Kia, Hyundai, Honda, > Toyota, Rupert Murdoch, Disney, Procter & Gamble - > anybody. > > Imagine what the DeLorean community would be like if > somebody outside of the community owned it. > > -- > Mike ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
