Mine was held on by 3 of the studs until I hit a deer on the DMA Fall Tour last year! I now have all 8 (brand new) studs and sockets. I was lucky that was the only damage aside from my license plate. All of them were rusty and only two were not broken. My fascia could have easily fallen off with a good bump. I agree with you, however, that it might be a little hard to miss it falling off ............unless you drive in reverse a lot.
