Thank you Wayne, The DeLorean door requires two potential energy systems to open and then hold the open door in position. The first system is the torsion unit that lifts the door an initial amount and the second is the gas strut system to complete and maintain the last phase of opening the door. The Torsion Unit we designed is more effective in that less energy (work) is required of the gas strut. The original torsion bar is also adjustable but tends to be more abrupt in the last phase of opening when retorqued. The gas strut used in our "youtube" demonstration is 14 years old and nearly ineffective with the original torsion bar.
