Thanks to all for info. & suggestions. The battery was hot; it had been sitting for quite a while (MONTHS), but that has not interfered before. (Always a first time). The two wires on top of the pump looked good & clean, but I cleaned them up a bit anyway before I reconnected. I always pull the inertia switch button when I depart the D as it provides a bit of built-in security. Symptoms were similar to my forgetting to tap the button back in. (That is so embarrassing). I'll have to run some more of the suggested tests to try to narrow down the snag before getting a new pump & finding it still won't start. (More embarrassment). Thanks again.
