I am on my fourth angle drive as well. All the replacement units were installed by PJ Grady. The different replacement units used were by PJ Grady's as well as the DMCH's. Up to about a year and half ago my car was driven every day logging on a minimum of 60 miles since ownership in 1996 and my car was driven in all weather including rain and light snow. As to prevent premature failure, different greases (including the lastest marketed ones) were used to pack the gears in hoping to extend the gears working capabiliites and l do believe a lubrication was also used at the drive cables. I wouldn't be surprise if it was to fail at any given time. I believe this angle drive is one of the weaknesses that haunts the DeLoreans. So...... Your car has pretty low mileage, and that may be a clue. What would be interesting to know is: Does your car sit for long periods of time without use? If so, how long after a long rest did the angle drive fail? Were there any warnings before the failures - bouncing speedo needle, inaccurate speed readings? -- Mike -------------- Original message from "andy" <andydandy777@xxxxxxx>: -------------- I am Andy Blackmon the owner of 03513. I have owned this car since 1982. The car has 31,000 miles on it and has had 4 angle drives. The one on it now is working fine but I do not trust it. If John or anyone can make a better angle drive or one that may be better (cant be worse) I will buy one and keep it in my glove box just as a back up.
