Lubrication isn't the problem -- it's a panacea. Don't feel bad -- a dead angle drive is not a sign of unconscientious maintenance. Even the most careful DeLorean owner can suffer angle drive failure. My last drive was given to me by an owner who had it bind at speed, causing its spindle cable to unwind into a tangled mass. That's a very common failure, as is the spindle cable snapping off altogether. I thought I'd be smart and modify it to accept replaceable spindle cables. That worked great for a while, but when I drove my DeLorean 100 miles daily last fall it started chewing up spindle cables at a prodigious rate (more than one per week). Eventually it stopped working altogether. I think a worn spindle gear bushing did it -- very oblonged. Take your dead angle drive apart and autopsy it. Not only will that reveal your particular failure point, but you'll see first hand what the design weaknesses are.
