[DML] DeLorean's life rights sold?

I recently read in Variety (Mar. 3, 2209) That Mayer Morganroth has sold DeLorean's life rights to Steve Lee Jones. ( A half assed film producer )
 
Question: How is it possible for Mayer Morganroth to do this? H eis billing himself as DeLorean's long time attorney. Anyone that knew John or the DeLorean family knew thast DeLorean hated Morganroth and spent years and thousands of dollars defending himself against claims that he owed Morganroth millions in legal fees. Morganroth was actually the primary reason for DeLoreans financial collapse.
 
Does the DeLorean family even know anything about this? I doubt it.
