I was going to post this over at DMChelp, but the site is down for new postings... Knut asked a pointed question in his recent post, when will the dashes be done...? Well, obviously that's complicated. >From what James said some time back, I think they are. I understood the problem to be the texture on the binnacle as of September or so. Now, it sure would be nice to have a matching new dash and binnacle in my car at the same time, but maybe that's the flaw in our logic that's holding all this up... Given that it will take many of us an extended time to replace the dash in the car, why not start selling them now during the winter maintenance season? They won't just be selling dashes - they will be selling kneepads, A-pillar covers, AC boxes, speakers, flasher relays, inertia switches, air ducts - all those things we have been putting off replacing or didn't know needed replacing. We could do that now, while its nasty and cold outside! (Admittedly its in the high 70's here today in CA - but I feel for you guys out in the snow...) It would bring countless weekends of cussing and grumbling and cut fingers as we all set to work ridding the community of cracked brown dashes at nearly the same time... Boy, That would be something, huh? We'll do the binnacles later, that only takes a couple of hours. Right? Besides, nothing gets binnacles finished like the profits from all those dashes. Maybe if enough of us expressed interest to Houston in doing this we could get the lions share of the work done before St. Patty's Day. James, if enough of us committed to just getting the dashes now, could you make that work and start getting those out to us?
