Maybe a better strategy would be to hold the car till the economy improves (storage) and then sell it. Since you say there is no economic pressure to sell it now this is definetly not a good time to try to sell. The car won't depreciate anymore so it is just a matter of the cost of storage. It can be stored so that it does not deteriorate "much". Inside out of the weather, drain the gas, put in fresh brake fluid, clean the inside throughly, leave moth balls under the car, treat the leather, jack it up, and cover it. Remove the battery and insure it properly. That will hold it for at least 2 years. Who knows, maybe your wife will change her mind and be glad you didn't sell it? Or maybe one of your kids will want it? Or maybe you'll trade your wife in? How about 1 forty for 2 twenties? Any takers?
