[DML] DMA FFT08 Wrap-up

I hope everyone had a great time on this year's Fall Foliage Tour. As usual, we lucked out with fantastic weather. We had a little over 30 people attended the tour, gained a new member while on the tour, and had about 16 or 17 DeLoreans in total.

We met at the Dansbury Depot on Friday to eat and socialize. Then we went back to the hotel to hang out. The next morning we drove on some curvy scenic roads that were full of hills on our way to Gillinder Glass where we learned their history and saw glass artisans hard at work. It's amazing what people can do with molten glass! I think the Staff was as excited about our cars as we were about their glass company! They all wanted pictures in front of and inside our cars.

Then we had lunch at the Erie Hotel. The food was fantastic and they played BTTF music in the background for us. The dessert was a huge buzz too! They were very excited to see the DeLoreans too!

We then left there for a long drive through the Poconos on our way to Callie?s Candies and Pretzel Factory. After everyone got their fill we headed on over to the Buck Hill Inn (http://www.buckhillinn.com/) Check out the website. It was a top-level luxury resort that's been closed for 20 years and it made an incredible backdrop for the DeLoreans.

We then went to dinner at the Fairway Grille. Most people said the food was fantastic, while a few had issues with the steaks that were served. Sorry about that! I had the Salmon which was great, so I wasn't aware of any issues until someone told me. I do know that the soups were made fresh that day. I had the pumpkin soup; they had an order of pumpkins come in the day before just for the soup! Everyone who got the Lasagna said that was great too.

Gift bags were distributed to each car and inside were not only a bunch of goodies to snack on and drinks for refreshment as well as directions, but each had a piece of paper and a pencil in it. The paper had a set of DeLorean Wheels printed on it. The contest was to draw your best DeLorean. The drawings were judged by the officers and the winner was Kevin Abato.

After dinner we made our way to the Casino theatre where we played games, had ice cream, and some of us saw a movie. I think a few people tried the DeLorean sundae too. Then back to the hotel we went for some much-needed sleep.

Sunday morning we headed out to the Balloon Festival. Unfortunately, some left early on Sunday... those of us who stayed had an AWESOME TIME! I was chosen to hold the checkered flag at the starting gate for the wiener dog and pig races and I got some great video of the whole thing. We saw the balloons launch in the afternoon, a lumberjack competition which was actually very entertaining, as well as skydivers jumping out of a plane and land right in front of us! Some members took the free ski-lift to the top of the mountain, while others chowed down on the fresh pulled pork from the pig roast. We also go to show off our cars to everyone who arrived and competed in a People's Choice Award competition. The winners of that competition were: In second place: Jason and Dave Onuschack, and in First place: Keith and Brenda Murphy! Congrats to you for having the favorite DMC's of the day!

We're going to post pictures and try to even post some video's on the website soon.

I hope everyone enjoyed the FFT.

In other news, I'm currently putting the final details together for the Holiday Party. I hope to announce the details VERY SOON so STAY TUNED! :)

Thanks,

---Dan
