Tom, Can you run the car without valve covers and the answer is yes you can, then the question is how well will it run. Then that is the next question. Yes I have in stock all 7mm VC bolts in any length along with the 7mm tool kit for fixing the hole. Also if you haven't looked lately I also remade the VC gaskets that are 0.062 thick rubberized heat resistant and oil resistance material. The normal you will get any where else is the 0.032 thin paper non sealing ones with out a lot of pressure. http://www.specialtauto.com/delorean-parts/engine.html John Hervey -----Original Message----- From: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tom Tait Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2008 2:06 AM To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [DML] 245/60Tires and Valve covers I've been told by DMC CA that you can run the car with the valve covers off, they are mostly there to contain the oil, more than vacuum. Did you notice slower acceleration with the wider tires? I haven't pulled my headliner down to do any work on it. I guess to check for the writing, I would have to pull out the headliner and re-glue it, future project. I have a potentially more serious problem, over the weekend, I adjusted my right side valves and when reassembling the valve cover stripped the threads on one of the long bolts with the spacer for the cable clip. I found a longer bolt that I was able to shim with two nuts and it took hold and tightened down. Haven't started up the car yet, but am hoping it will hold and not leak. I've never replaced threads before especially in an area as sensitive as the engine block!
