Thanks! That's exactly what I did. I went to the hardware store and found the proper cable and a cable stop, threaded the cable, and made sure everything was tight. I took it out for a couple of test drives in the neighborhood to make sure everything was okay. Perfection! I have a slight coolant leak, but I can fix that later. Then I took it on the highway and part of the wiring got antifreeze/water on it from a leaky hose. You can guess what happened next. I pulled the car over and sprayed the fire out. (I carry a fire extinguisher with me in every vehicle I drive.) I called AAA for help, and the Gastonia fire department was there within five minutes. The poor guys showed up expecting a car fire -- somehow AAA missed the fact that I had put the fire out myself, though I'd mentioned it about three times. But that's another story for another day, I suppose. By George, the new throttle cable works like a DREAM! Cheers, Farrar Hudkins #2613 -- now with all-new tasty melted distributor cap and charred MSD plug wires! (Ask for them by name.)
