Richard, I am the copyright owner of the Delorean Colorized, Laminated Wiring Diagram. I came up with the idea in the summer of 2005 after hearing all the complaints of how awful it was to trace a wiring problem on the Delorean using the black and white version. I paid big bucks to have everything digitized and colorized. When the product was finished, I then paid to have them all laminated, both back and front so they are impervious to almost anything except fire and acid. I sold my first one on Ebay on 01-14-06. Since then, I have periodically sold them on Ebay and directly to folks on the News and Forum. I was at my daughter's graduation in Colorado Springs when I gained access to a computer to check my email. I decided to also check out my Ebay watch list when I discovered someone was selling an exact duplicate of my diagram. Not just one, but five copies. After studying his diagram closely, it was obvious he had just taped over my name and email address and copied my original, you could see the tape lines on his copy. I contacted him directly through "ask a question" and politely asked that he remove the listing because of copyright infringement. He responded that I did not have the copyrights and even if I did, he had made several changes to my diagram and had copyrighted it in the UK. I tactfully explained that taping over my name and copying it was not significant changes as required by the copyright act. I then contacted Ebay and filed a copyright infringement report (VeRO) explaining all that had happened. Ebay quickly decided the case in my favor, and has not only pulled his listing from Ebay USA, but also Ebay UK, since he had five of them listed there. Since returning home I have contacted my attorney and we are pursuing this gentleman here in the USA, because he will have to travel here to appear in court. I am also filing in California, since Ebay home offices are there and when we sue him for the Ebay UK infringement, he will have to travel back here for that also. Bottom line-----------If you have an idea and put it on paper first, you own the copyrights, especially if you can provide proof of a timeline. For those of you that want to see what one of my diagrams looks like, go to DCS 08 and catch Bob Brandys talk on electric deloreans. He has my permission to use my diagram in his presentation. I contacted him about a digital version but he said he want willing to let it go. I would be willing to purchase it from the rightful owner so I can make a really big one on the plotter..
