My car holds at the line below the 80 psi mark. Don't know what this line represents, I guess it to be 70 or 60 psi. At idle (750-800 RPM) it runs around mid scale (40 psi). If I bump the idle to 900 it shoots back up to the line before 80. So mine is very sensitive to the low RPMs. --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Farrar <fhudkins@...> wrote: > > Sorry to veer off track here, but how should I read the oil pressure gauge? > > According to the repair receipts, my car's oil pressure sender was > replaced, but it's difficult to know what I should glean from it. > > My oil pressure gauge seems linked to the RPMs. (e.g. it reads almost > zero at a stoplight, and jumps up when I hit the gas) Is that correct? > > (BTW, the Yahoo Groups search function is currently not functioning.) > > Cheers, > Farrar Hudkins > #2613 (auto) > > Dave Swingle wrote: > > I don't think 5W30 is a particularly good idea in this engine and can > > usually tell when a car comes in with that in it - the oil pressure > > reads way too low when hot. > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
