NOTICE: This post is NOT intended to ignite a carburetion versus forced injection controversy. It is intended only to share information of an activity I am pursuing, using my own resources, to be made available to any owner who may contact me at his or her volition. Please do not respond with meritorious arguments -- the archives are already plenty full of those, many of which carry my byline. FYI: I am beginning design discussions with a local machinist to manufacture and blueprint, for reproduction as necessary, a prototype PRV carbureted intake manifold. It should be completed and available for inspection at DCS. I anticipate a welded up version of my cast manifold. This will differ from the carburetor intended prototype currently under Houston's Stage III as follows: - Lower profile - Two venturi orifices (2 barrel carburetor) - Smaller plenum - Provision for a throttle cable bracket, or possibly the bracket itself For cost savings I am commissioning a steel prototype, but the machinist is capable of reproducing it in aluminum, with commensurately higher material cost. Please note: - I do not intend or anticipate mass usage of this manifold. That is why it is being blueprinted for occasional reproduction - I do not intend or anticipate changing forced injection enthusiasts minds. This will provide a fuel delivery option for a small group of owners for whom injection is mind changing It is reasonable to wonder why I am doing this: More than a dozen owners have contacted me since I converted, seeking to at least explore the option of doing the same. In fact I had two inquiries at DMA last weekend. Until now, intake manifolds have been the limiting factor. With this engineering out of the way, owners who voluntarily elect to at least try carburetion will have the means to do so.
