Louie and I burned the A/C all the way to DMA last weekend -- 13 hours straight (R134 works very well, thank you very much). Unfortunately Louie occasionally had the all too common "cold water on the poor passenger's foot" DeLorean experience. This puzzled me because I have replaced the convoluted frame side drain with simpler and more direct plumbing. Climbed under the dash this morning and discovered a second evaporator drain tube -- straight into the blower motor housing! Whose bright idea was it to fill the blower motor with water? I guess they thought heat from the motor would evaporate it. As Louie can testify, it doesn't. It does cause the bearings to squeal as they slowly grind themselves into oblivion, however (water is a very poor lubricant). I shall route this second drain to the outside world, where DMC should have sent it 27 years ago, and lubricate what's left of my blower motor bearings. Owners who claim these little cars are perfect as they left Dunmurry, or have no room for major improvement, are welcome to look me up at DCS to continue the conversation....
