I agree with Bryan. My son-in-law owns an auto repair shop and he helped me install a clutch using his shop equipment one weekend. Because we worked together and I had knowledge of the DeLorean mechanicals he didn't have the mindset Bryan refers to. When we were done he told me "I installed a clutch in an Audi the other day and this was a piece of cake in comparison." The DeLorean is really pretty basic with a few odd characteristics. Bosch K-jetronic is the same principle whether it's used in a Volkswagon, Porsche, Volvo or whatever. If you know that system then you should be able to trouble shoot it no matter the car it's used in. It's the fact the DeLorean looks exotic that creates that mindset. That's not to say I would expect just any mechanic to work on the gullwing doors or the weird electrical system. The car does have some of it's own problem areas that take prior experiance to fix but all the coments I've seen here regarding the fuel system should not be a problem for a competent mechanic experianced working on K-Jetronic. Bruce Benson > Was every mechanic I talked with prior to the last incompetent? > Absolutely not, but they had a mindset that did not allow them to see past the fact they were working on a DeLorean. > Bryan Pearce > Pearce Design Components > =============================================== ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
