I had my car in Charlotte last summer and found out one day in traffic that my fans were not working. I had apparently driven all the way from Cincinnati to Charlotte fine, yet one day I was driving on I-77 and was sitting in 100 degree weather on an exit ramp for about 25 minutes. I obviously noticed that the fans were not clicking on. I got pretty worried, at the hottest point, the temperature gauge was reading about 240 degrees. Not a moment too soon I was able to get off the exit ramp and drive down the road. I finally hit some country roads and once I hit 40-45 the car came all the way back down into the white between the second and third mark. In the next few days I ran a line directly from the battery, to a fuse, to a switch, then spliced and into the fans so that I could control the fans. I still do not know why exactly they were not working. I have special t autos black box and am pretty sure it is installed correctly, at least according to the picture. I recently plugged everything back in and tightened and cleaned all the connections and with the otterstat jumped, the fans turn immediately about half the time. The other half of the times, the black box requires some sort of jolt in order to click over, whether it be me tapping on the side (which is what usually happens) or me hitting a pothole. Right now I just leave the box sticking outside the relay compartment so I can tap it if necessary. I'll probably replace the fans some time in the near future so I can eliminate these kinds of problems. -Nick Roedl- 1643 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
