Another good point is checking and cleaning all your ground points. I had my car in top shape, but battery would die after a week in storage. I put a new Hervy alternator in and a new battery, but still no good. Marc Levy and Dan Shane solved the issue for me 1 week prior to driving to DCS06. I pointed out the battery dying issue, along with the fact if headlights, radio, and AC were all on, and I try to open a window, the radio would reset as if unplugged. They cleaned every major ground on my car, and all demons went away. The problem was the grounds were so dirty that my new battery was never getting a full charge from the alternator! Side note: since I am a mechanical dummy....I just took photos of them fixing it. ;) Kevin Abato Vin# 16680 www.grenexmedia.com -----Original Message----- From: "Elvis" <elvisnocita@xxxxxx> Date: Wed, 09 Apr 2008 18:52:53 To:dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [DML] Re: Dead battery fix was:Lauren's Car Why not start with the real problem ? current drain ! Reducing standby-current is done very quickly and cheap on a stock Delorean. I proved that 6-7 years ago, but never got rich with that :-( Remember the door lock module that sucks 13mA just to check the door switches ? reduce it to 1mA and it will help a lot ! (see the thech section of the DMCNEWS) Cars with newer radios, amplifiers and alarm-systems of course draw more. But a stock Delo should keep the battery much longer charged if you modify or disconnect the door lock ECU. Hey Lauren - I can modify that for you if you come to Gettysburg :-) Elvis & 6548 [moderator snip] ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
