RE: [DML] Re: Lauren's Car

Lauren:

Consider unplugging your door lock module. It is a major source of current draw while the car is parked. You could even ask Rob to set up a switch to disable them when you park, and easily enable them when you take it out for the day.

I suspect that the garage is way to dark to consider getting one of the solar chargers and putting it on your dash.

If and when you battery dies from all this stress, look into getting an optima battery - yellow or red top? I have the yellow but others here will know better which will work best for you for repeated deep discharges.

Finally, you might invest in one of the portable battery packs that you can charge in your apartment and take with you when its time to retrieve the car.

I offer these thoughts only to help - I'm actually married.

Thanks, Marc and Kevin :) I do the best I can with my resources to
keep Belinda running. I'm very grateful to Marc for his help with
my car. And, for 2 years now, my car has been problem-free. Alas,
that honeymoon has come to an end. I will be taking it to Rob's,
probably after the DMA spring social.

It has been quite some week! I'm getting calls from all sorts of
people...Delorean owners, old friends I haven't heard from in ten
years, a guy claiming to have done the original photography for the
Delorean, random people asking me out...and it keeps coming. There
were some interesting comments about me and my car on Jalopnik.com.
I may do some follow up interviews as well.

And, thanks to Kayo for that amazing description of the problems
inherent in Manhattan Delorean ownership. It is a lot of work,
money, begging, and research. I actually got a phenomenal deal at
my garage ($300/month), but it took a lot to work that out. And,
Kayo is right...I have no ability to park my own car, work on my car
at the garage, or even make sure the attendant doesn't leave the
lights on! If I leave the car in the garage for more than 3 weeks
at a time, it will almost certainly be dead and need a jump. That
is really wearing on my car over time.
