I imagine it's the same in any large metropolis. In New Orleans, there are folks who don't own a car. If they live in the city and work in the city, they can take the bus or the streetcar to get anywhere they need to go on a daily basis. Most living spaces uptown/downtown don't come with parking, and the monthly rates for such facilities are almost comically expensive. I live (just) outside of town and have my own parking space, and consider myself extremely fortunate to have such a situation. Renting even a space for the car and tools to be stored would be an extra few hundred dollars a month, and I am already a D owner on a budget (and probably always will be). I am glad that there are at least a few of us on a budget. It shows that D ownership is a joy not limited to the extremely wealthy.
