Congrats on your "purchase".... for a song and a dance? That ought to 
have been a hell of a performance :D

As Dave already pointed out (many others will do): before even trying to
fire up the engine, clean out the gas tank and fill it with fresh juice.
Be sure the battery is charged and okay.
Inspect all hoses (cooling and fuel), perhaps take a look at one or two 
spark plugs, GND wiring okay? Then give it a try.
Be sure to inspect brake lines, discs and pads, an tires before giving 
it a spin.
