Congrats with the new wheels!
I haven't seen anyone mentioning this, so I will: buy yourself a 
proper gas can and fill it up before you start your trip.
That may prevent you getting stuck between nowhere and noplace.
Anyway it helps me to extend my range.

For the trip itself, get in and start driving. Don't worry too much. 
A good car will behave and worrying takes the fun out of the trip.
