This was a problem for me for about 6 months. Fuel pump was loud as hell. A real loud buzzing sound. When you'd remove the fuel cap, air was go wwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooooosh and get sucked in. It was a big problem in the summer time. I changed the fuel sending unit, the vent pitot pipe, cleaned out the tank, and put in a new fuel pump. Still no luck. To make a long story short, insulation around my cooling system pipes rotted away, the heat radiating out of the pipes was heating the fuel in the tank, causing my vaccum lines to get soft and collapse. Replaced the insulation and all worked well.
