In theory, the DML archives could be just as good as the proposed wiki site. But when you need to find out exactly why this mysterious blue relay melted and all you can find are posts titled 'OMG OMG FIIRRRE".... It's an exaggeration, but I've always HATED hunting through these archives. Even though I generally prefer web-based sites, even those are terrible to hunt through. (The forum I use for my regular car's support has a restriction on the search engine: all queries must be 3 letters or longer. It's pretty hard to find details on "MS" (megasquirt) or "+t" (adding a turbo system), especially when every single post is titled that way.) A dedicated site would be much easier to search and find answers on, and could be easily updated and cross-referenced regularly. If someone discovers that oil X is awesome, they're not likely to make a new post about it, so all the data we can find will be people arguing about it. Plus, we could integrate the existing how-tos and tech data, with the added benefit that people can add new pictures and details as new methods are discovered. I'd be willing to help out with the site, although I'm not exactly a good source of technical information. And I think that rather than the existing wikia site, we should probably have it hosted by owners. Maybe one of the vendors would be willing to host it for us? I vote that we take Lou up on his offer, or at least arrange something. This could prove incredibly useful. --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "John Hervey" <john@...> wrote: > > Joe, > Isn't the DML archives the same thing.
