Dennis, in terms of rarety, an automatic '83 is less common than a 5 speed '83. As far as desirability, a 5 speed has a broader range of appeal than an automatic. That being said, if someone is looking for an auto, and they want a late VIN, a good condition auto can bring more than a 5 speed just because its harder to find. A 5 speed will probably sell faster though. I hope this helps and doesn't confuse you.
