The easiest way to remove the binnacle is to hire a 13 year old female gymnast to contort herself into the pretzel shape needed to get under that dash and pull the nuts off. In the absence of that option plan on a few cramps, knicked knuckles and washers dropped in your eye and you can do it. It takes patience, a good drop light and a small (about 8mm I believe it is) socket wrench. Get under the dash with those and give the binnacle a wiggle. You'll see the mount points. Remove the screws and unscrew your upper spedo cable from the gear box on the front firewall. Be VERY carefull of the wiring. It connects to the right side of the instrument cluster with a slip-on style circuit board connector. The point by point removal instructions are posted in several places so get one of those and follow the directions. It's time consuming and you might want to plan on having it out a day or two (the car not driveable) to complete the job. Not as bad as it seems before you start, but a daunting task until you actually set yourself to it.
