Hi group, For some time now, I've been wondering about this strange post that sticks out from under the hood of my car, next to the gas cap filler and clutch fluid reservoir. It looks to be the same black fiberglass material as the underbody, and it has a plastic screw cap on top with a square nut. I removed the cap and smelled what seems to be gasoline inside. I'm curious, perhaps it's possible someone replaced the NOS fuel tank with something else? I've always used the standard filler. Could this be detrimental to the performance of the car, perhaps letting condensation get in the tank? Not sure how airtight this thing is. I don't believe I've ever seen anything like this on other owners cars at the get togethers and meetings...I can try to borrow a digital camera and take a photo if necessary. Anyone heard of anything like this before? Maybe it's a new form of Mr Fusion!
