These so-called gull-wing doors that these manufacturers are calling gull-wing are not gull-wing doors at all in the way that the DeLorean or the Mercedes gull-wing doors from the 1950s did were. The DeLorean and the 1950s Mercedes gull-wing doors are truly gull-wing doors.
   
   All of these kit doors that I have seen do not open outward in the way a gull opens its wings to fly but rather they open upward in the same way that scissors open.
