Claude - I think you need to rethink the ideas that

each and every serial number is assigned to a car
every car assigned a serial number actually gets built
cars start build in serial number order
cars complete build in serial number order
all of the cars built are made for immediate sale
cars are shipped in serial number order

You might want to consult Knut's VIN list and production
chronology information on DMC News.
