The historic (QQ) plates are $44 for the first year and then free renewals after that. You are limited to mileage (I think it's 2,500) and you are subject to inspection but they can only read your odometer and check your insurance card. Contact the Special Plate Unit in Trenton. They are the only place that can give you the proper information and issue the plates, the local agencies cannot. Wait until your registration is up for renewal and apply about 2 months before. You can also order personalized QQ plates for an additional fee. You really will have to call unless you want to go to Trenton. It isn't that bad, the agency has improved a lot in the last couple of years. They are even courtious now!
