If you prefer "empathy" you should have said "empathy"... We need to be careful not to speak out of both sides of our mouths. New owners are typically urged to seek local clubs for support. When they take us up on the offer, should we chastize or criticize them for doing what they were urged to do in the first place? Anyone offering to help an owner in distress should be prepared for hardships such as missing dinner. Neither you nor I can speak for Evil Dan's feelings. My experience has been that in the heat of battle, time, meals, etc aren't even noticed or missed. Replacing Louie Golden's radiator in the IHOP parking lot took several hours, but only felt like several minutes. Everyone except Louie seemed to be having a blast. I pass by countless vehicles of recent vintage dead on the shoulders of our nation's highways. How surprising is it then that 26 year old DeLoreans (which are a mass produced prototypes...) should occasionally suffer the same fate. Radiator malfunctions are becoming so endemic (we lost one at FFT'07) that I am seriously contemplating engineering a temporary cooler that could be quickly spliced in as a temporary fix. There's plenty of room between the cooling fans and steering rack for a narrow/deep device. The sway bar and crumple extension offer ready hanging points. I already travel with 1.25" hose (hard to find in a hurry), so adding an emergency cooler would be no big deal. Don't know how it would perform in the heat of summer, but fall through spring should be OK.
