Bill, I have only to clarify one thing: R12 is illegal over here (Europe). Here it's really outlawed. All other information you have provided sticks. I run R134a now for a year, with ester oil and fluor added. Pressurized, tested for leaks, vacuumed, filled (R134a, oil, fluor) and tested again. No leaks, 4-5 degrees Celsius in the air inlets, cool summer! :D Works like a charm and, legal..
