Dear Todd Not to wax too poeticly on this side of the isle... Those parts that are going into the cars were made for the DeLoreans being assembled in Dunmurry, at the blessing of JZD. Those parts were carted over to a place that has taken extremely good care of them so we, the ones that want to keep the 'dream alive' running can have a source to go to. As far as them people in Humble TX, I'll bet the people putting the DeLoreans together have families also. And half the threads I read are about replacing parts, You are right about the new cars not having a history (we won't go into QAC's), but just think - in 25 years they too will have a history, and we will still be arguing about the ethical car... My DeLorean was built in strife-torn Dunmurry in 1981. It was transported on a Tellus carrier from station to station, as people -- who frankly didn't know a lot about building cars, and were in many cases were happy to have any job at all -- fit its doors, tightened its bolts, etc. It's a product of a time when people were still hopeful that this idea of an ethical sports car just might work. To me, it is a real DeLorean in every sense. It may have belonged to someone else before me, and it may have had some parts replaced, but that's all a part of its unique history over the last 26 years. These "new" cars will be assembled in Humble, Texas, to make money off an old stockpile of parts that's not moving fast enough. These cars, in my mind, will be DeLorean replicas. Yes, they may share some parts in common with my DeLorean, but not its history or the spirit in which it was created.
