Don't know DMCH's plan for issuing titles on cars, but... Go the to DOT's website, and lookup Docket # 23093 as an example. http://dms.dot.gov/search/searchFormSimple.cfm A car maker can petition, and be granted an expemption from safety standards providing they: 1. Have proven that they have done enough engineering in good faith to provide a safe vehicle that complies with safety regulations as much as possible. 2. Show that extensive testing would be a financial hardship on the company. In a nutshell it says that the car isn't a deathtrap, and that testing is too expensive to try and protect a uber-minority of people out of the relative few who will own the vehicle and end up crashing it. The F430 line for example here is not only exempt from crash testing, but from an airbag requirement as well. Aside from that, it can be proven that this is a relatively safe vehicle, as data from crash testing of the DMC-12 model line is still available, and shown that it was a relatively safe vehicle any how (George Washington University is the repository for all vehicle crash testing records, and yes I verified that they have COMPLETE data on the DMC-12: Multiple camera angles, telemetry, etc.). So there shouldn't be a problem with DMCH, or whatever seperate corporate entity they establish to build cars to recieve this exemption. However as of yet, no exemption appears to have been applied for, so who knows what DMCH's plans are... -Robert vin 6585 "X" p.s. as an aside I went ahead and modified the Subject of the post so anyone checking the archives from now on will be able to look this up. It's a question that's going to keep coming up, so refering everyone back to the archives will be easier. --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "Sean" <sweitzel@...> wrote: > > How are the newly manufactured DeLoreans going to be sold?
