Each headlight is adjusted by two screws pulling against two springs -- one adjusts up & down, the other adjusts left & right. If either a spring or screw is broken, adjustment will be thrown totally off, quite possibly yielding lights aimed down rather than out. Ensure both springs and screws are intact: http://www.pjgrady.com/images/catalog/350.gif I adjust my headlights by shining them down a dark parking lot. If you stand directly behind the vehicle and squint, you will "see" quite clearly the beams of light. You want the beams to point straight ahead, and wash the pavement as they disperse. On the way home from Pigeon Forge we adjusted headlights on nearly every car in the caravan.
