It's not that they lines get messed up but die from age. Especially the discharge line going from the compressor to the condensor coil. It sees the highest pressures and temperatures. I would at least replace that one. There is no way to inspect for impending failure, at least not visually. I also suggest draining as much of the old oil as possible and filling with fresh. And new service valve cores.
